Re-evaluate value

I'll let you evaluate my value study...does it add value to the overall experience? How valuable is it? Light to dark values make you value your approach to the painting..knock, knock..who's there? Orange... Orange who? Orange you glad I didn't say value! all kidding aside...I do realize the importance and it does slow me down and makes me look at the scene before diving in with random color selections.

oh thanks for showing us your value sketch....I actually like the process of the value sketches...often more than the painting part:)

I think it's beautiful as a work on it's own. I'm a sucker for a monochromatic palette:)

I was once told that if it doesn't work in black and white, then it doesn't work in colour. Sometimes by turning a colourful painting to black and white on a computer, it helps to determine whether the tonal values are correct. I tried this a couple of times and it helped me.
Your monochrome is perfect! The tonal range is striking :0)

Ciao e buon fine settimana.
